New Executive Chef, Housekeeper, Sales Manager at Island House

A new executive chef, sales director, and executive housekeeper will be working at the Island House Hotel when it opens Friday, May 3, the hotel’s president, Todd Callewaert, has announced.

Chef Philip Kromer was most recently the executive chef at the Renaissance Hotel near Indianapolis, Indiana and is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in New York, with 26 years in the business.

Sales manager Margaret Wilson has joined the Island House from Colorado, where she was group sales manager for Viceroy Snowmass. She has worked for resorts in New Mexico and Colorado, including Hotel Jerome in Aspen. She was graduated from the Michigan State University College of Business and Hospitality.

LeeAnn Heikkila will be in charge of housekeeping. A University of Wisconsin-Superior graduate, she has experience at the historic hotels in Mt. Rainier, Glacier, and Yellowstone national parks.

Island House, dating to 1852, is the oldest hotel on Mackinac Island, a National Historic Landmark, and is one of only two members of Historic Hotels of America on the Island, the other being Grand Hotel.
