Lakers Produce Strong Finish at Regionals

The Mackinac Island Lakers track and field team had an outstanding day during the Division 3 regionals in Pickford Friday, May 16.

Four individuals qualified for the Upper Peninsula state finals Saturday, May 31, in Kingsford. The relay team finished fourth and needed to place first or second to advance to the finals.

Girls results: Kyra Kolatski won the high jump with a height of 4’8” and was fourth in the 200 meter dash in 30.05; Molly Tokarz, fourth in the high jump with a height of 4’4”; the 400 meter relay team of Hailey Armstrong, Mary Schockling, Kyra Kolatski, and Molly Tokarz finished fourth in 1:01.59.

Boys results: Kyle Shunk finished third in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:24.45 and third in the high jump with a mark of 4’10”; Will Barnwell, third in the low hurdles in 49.97 and third in the high jump with a height of 4’10”.
