Lilac Festival Activities

Ongoing:

“A Spring Exhibition” – Island painters Kitty Hannabass, Nicki Griffith, and Pat Pulte show their work at the Mackinac Art Gallery at Murray Hotel, 7260 Main Street.

“Birds of a Feather” –Painter Bill Murcko and photographer Betty Murcko present their exhibition featuring 48 works of art of the birds of Mackinac Island at the Mackinac Island Public Library, 903 Huron Street.

“Children’s Book Illustrations” – Mackinac Arts Council, in collaboration with Central Michigan University, presents the exhibition The Clarke Historical Library/Molson Art Collection of Children’s Book Illustrations at the Center for the Arts at Mission Point Resort.

Friday, June 13

Art’s Little Luxuries –Watercolor artist Mary Lou Peters will display her artwork at Little Luxuries of Mackinac Island, 7372-107 Main Street, from noon to 2 p.m.

Michigan Beer and Wine Tasting –Mission Point Resort is hosting a Michigan beer and wine tasting from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bistro on the Greens.

Classical Guitar Concert – Roger Humphrey from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Mackinac Island Public Library, 903 Huron Street.

Feast of Epona Blessing of the Animals – Join us as we bless the horses, dogs, turtles, and more at this event at Little Barn at Mission Hill at 5 p.m.

Market Street Art Walk – Meet Mackinac Island artists during the Market Street Art Walk from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This is a self-guided tour.

Mackinac Arts Council Film Series – Watch “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” at the Center for the Arts at Mission Point Resort at 8 p.m. Admission is $5.

Saturday, June 14

Metropolitan Boys Choir Flag Day Concert – Join the Minneapolis/St. Paul choral group at Fort Mackinac at noon for a program of musical selections. Admission to the Fort required for entry.

Epona and Barkus Parade – Come join in or watch the parade of canines. Parade starts at 1 p.m. at the Mackinac Island Public School and continues to Windermere Point.

Mackinac Island Dog and Pony Show –One-ring event takes place at Windermere Point after the Epona and Barkus Parade. The event features

Dan Wallen and his trained ponies.

Michigan Beer and Wine Tasting –Mission Point Resort is hosting a Michigan beer and wine tasting from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bistro on the Greens.

Architectural Walking Tour – Learn about many downtown buildings in this walking tour. Tickets are $10. The tour starts at 3 p.m. at the Tourism Bureau.

Sunday, June 15

Metropolitan Boys Choir Grand Hotel Concert – Join the Minneapolis/St. Paul choral group at 11:30 a.m. at Grand Hotel for a musical program. Admission is $10 for non-hotel guests.

Patrick Sinclair Scottish Tattoo –At the ramparts of Fort Mackinac to honor the memory of Fort Mackinac Commander Patrick Sinclair. The event starts at 2 p.m. at Marquette Park.

Scottville Clown Band – The band warms up with a pre-parade concert at 3 p.m. at Father Marquette Memorial at Marquette Park.

Lilac Festival Parade –This year’s parade theme is mythology. The parade route begins at Mission Point Resort and proceeds down Main Street starting at 4 p.m.
