‘Trinity Celebrates Creativity!’ Fundraiser Scheduled for June 22

Trinity Episcopal Church will host a fundraiser Sunday, June 22, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Parish Hall on Fort Street. The “Trinity Celebrates Creativity!” event will offer handmade items for sale made by year-around and seasonal residents throughout Mackinac Island.

The fundraiser benefits Trinity Episcopal’s Diaconal Fund that promotes “community service and outreach to the [Mackinac Island] community, U.P., and beyond,” said Joan Slater.

Through the Diaconal Fund, Trinity offers matching monies to the Mackinac Island Community Foundation’s to the Rainy Day Fund that provides financial assistance for Island resident and worker emergency needs. Other donations are given to the Island’s American Legion Post 299, Camp New Day U.P. that provides a weeklong summer camp to children with an incarcerated parent, and to provide a scholarship for a student in Haiti.

Knitted hats, scarves, and baby clothes, needlepointed balsam pillows, original paintings, and hand-woven baskets are some of the products to be offered for sale. Other items for sale will include handmade books, envelopes, jewelry, and prayer beads.
