Horsemen’s Association Plans Cookout

The Mackinac Horsemen’s Association will host the annual Cowboy Cookout from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30. The party and fundraiser is free to all members of the Horsemen’s Association.

Held at the Mackinac Community Equestrian Center, the party includes music, refreshments, and, of course, horses. Professional Western competitors and champions Brian Bannerman and Will Eckert will be featured at the event.

Following the cookout, there will be a cowboy day camp for children at the Community Equestrian Center Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The class is free of charge for all children, and horses will be provided; individuals are also welcome to bring their own. The camp will be taught by Mr. Bannerman and Mr. Eckert, and will include a trail class. Students will be guided through trail course obstacles on horseback. To reserve a spot in the day camp, call (906) 847-8034. While riding space in the class is limited, all spectators are welcome.

The Mackinac Horsemen’s Association seeks to preserve equestrian culture on the Island, hosting camps, lessons, horse shows, and other events for the community. To become a member of the Mackinac Horsemen’s Association, a $25 minimum fee is required.
