Mac To Mac Race Will Take Place August 12

All boats are invited to participate in the third annual Mission Point Mac to Mac Regatta, which runs from the Island past the Mackinac Bridge and back again, to be held Saturday, August 12,

The regatta is sponsored by Mission Point Resort and Mackinac Island Yacht Club. The course, 2.5 miles, runs from the east breakwall to a turning point around a buoy 0.3-nautical mile west of the Bridge. The finish line will be in the harbor directly across from Mackinac Island Yacht Club. Sailing instructions will be provided on race day.

“We wanted to add on to the third Around the Island Race and thought this would different and fun,” said organizer David Rowe. “We expect a great turnout this year and I’m looking forward to it.”

All skippers and crew need only meet at the Mackinac Island Yacht Club at noon to take part in the race. There is no sign-up or entry fee.

There will be awards and a party immediately after the race at the Bistro on the Greens at Mission Point. The winner of first in the fleet will receive a keeper trophy.
