Work at Shepler Dock To Continue Until Spring

A crane and two barges are moored at the Shepler dock December 2, ready for more work on a dock expansion and a new hotel. One of the barges is filled with bags of cement mix and sand, to be mixed in two cement trucks aboard Shepler’s Sacre Bleu freight boat. The cement is for a six-inch-thick slab for the new hotel. Shepler President Chris Shepler said the project has been slowed by unexpected regulatory requirements, but the area has been dredged and an old dock removed. He plans by May 1, 2018, to have the dock widened by 10 feet to allow more queuing for passengers. The company continues to use the dock for freight hauling during construction.
