Planning Commission To Hold Master Plan Hearing October 9

The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the updated Master Plan at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, in City Hall. The hearing will proceed the regular commission meeting, which will be held at 3 p.m.

Following months of review by a committee, the Master Plan was updated this year with the help of consultant Adam Young of WadeTrim.

Among the additions to the Master Plan is a new existing land use map that catalogues how all of the property on the Island is being used. The map was developed by committee members Lorna Straus, Barb Fisher, and Gregg Neville. The city intends to update the map in the future to track land use through the years.

The draft Master Plan is 94 pages long. It includes a 12-page appendix containing historic sites, natural resources, survey results, and information gathered at various public input sessions.

The draft Master Plan and appendix are available on the Town Crier Web site, under the “General Documents” tab.
