Robert St. Onge, Jr. Robert St. Onge, Jr. Robert St. Onge, Jr., 68, of St. Ignace, passed away Thursday morning, November 1, 2018, at McLaren Northern Michigan hospital in Petoskey.

He was born August 25, 1950, to Robert and Elizabeth “Pecky” (nee LaPine) St. Onge on Mackinac Island.

He was graduated from high school. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Mr. St. Onge was employed as a painter on Mackinac Island all his life.

He was a charter member of American Legion Post 299 of Mackinac Island. He was a member of Ste. Anne’s Catholic Church on Mackinac Island, and he was an elder with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

He is survived by his father, Robert St. Onge, Sr. of St. Ignace; a son and his family, Robert C. St. Onge and Donna Adams of Burnsville, Minnesota; three brothers and their families, John St. Onge of Mackinac Island, Joe and Annie St. Onge of Tracy, California, and William Paul St. Onge of Mackinac Island, and three sisters and their families, Mandy and Paul Wandrie of St. Ignace, Catherine and Roy Thomas, also of St. Ignace, and Marge and Ed Nielsen of Port Charlotte, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Herbert “Herbie” St. Onge, and a sister, Susan Green.

A gathering was held Saturday, November 24, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the home of Paul and Mandy Wandrie at 211 Paro Street in St. Ignace to pay respect and celebrate his life.

A military graveside service will be held in the spring at Ste. Anne’s Cemetery on Mackinac Island, with the date and time to be announced later.

Dodson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
