Students in grades eight through 12 recited poems from a predetermined list and were judged on accuracy, interpretation, and difficulty when Mackinac Island school held its local Poetry Out Loud competition Thursday, January 5. Taking first place for a third year was junior Onaca Bennett. She will travel to Saginaw Valley State University to compete at the state level March 9 and 10.
