President George H.W. Bush, who passed away Friday, November 30, at the age of 94, came here in 1992 for a conference at Grand Hotel and to lead the Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk, the only sitting president to walk the bridge. Here, he chats with Walter and Sally North of St. Ignace. Mr. North was executive secretary of the Mackinac Bridge Authority at the time and would later serve eight years in the Michigan Senate.
