2022 MACKINAC ISLAND TOWN CRIER INTERNSHIP

The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Monday, February 7.

The Mackinac Island Town Crier newspaper internship is a unique opportunity for a hands-on course in print journalism. Interns are involved in every aspect of the newspaper, with emphasis on writing, photography, and involvement in the community.

The program is open to graduate and undergraduate college students, good writers who are interested in the relationship between a newspaper and the community it serves. Students who excel are those who approach the program as a valuable opportunity to expand their learning beyond the university setting and who actively work to apply these lessons to improve their work during the course of the summer.

The 15-week internship can be completed during one of two segments: Monday, May 2, to Friday, August 12, or Monday, May 9, to Friday, August 19.

Other school or work commitments during the internship are discouraged. Two paid interns are hired for the summer. They are provided a shared apartment and office on Mackinac Island. Interns must bring their own bicycle.

Applications are being accepted until 5 p.m. Monday, February 7, 2022, and personal interviews with selected candidates will be scheduled during February and March.

To apply to our internship, please fill out our Google Form at forms.gle/xWNNCm1E8T5Ebqav6. You will be asked to submit several documents as part of your application, and you must include your last name in the file name of each document. You will be asked to provide:
